Welcome to Year R
During Year R our pupils learn through a creative, play based curriculum which encompasses teacher directed and child initiated tasks. We will be teaching the children to become independent learners who are able to reflect on what they have learnt and identify ways to move their learning forward. Children have the opportunity to guide their own learning in the afternoons where they have access to a stimulating environment both indoors and outdoors. During this time teachers will observe children practising and consolidating previously learnt skills and encourage them to find ways to overcome any problems they come across.
Year R Events & Learning
People who help us
Over the last few weeks we have been learning about people who help us. We were very lucky to be visited by: 2 doctors, a physio, a fireman, the Teddy Bear Hospital, an emergency first responder and a forensic crime scene officer. This really helped us learn more about how people help us and the different occupations of other people. The children made emergency services vehicles. They carefully drew a plan and selected the materials they needed.
National Costume and Colours of Flag dressing up day
On 19th January, the children in Year R dressed up either in national costume or in the colours of a flag. They all had great fun drawing their own flags and also tasting different foods. Please have a look at the pictures in the gallery to see what we got up to!
