New Year R equipment

With the help of funds raised by the PTA, we have had some new equipment installed in the Year R playground. This equipment offers children the ability to practise new skills that the previous apparatus didn’t offer.

All aboard the Hollybrook Express! The new train apparatus provides an opportunity for children to crawl, role play, and imagine.

A special visitor

Today we had an unexpected visit from a very small hedgehog. It was found near Badger class in the top playground. We rescued it from the hot sunshine, and after having a tour around all the classes (especially Hedgehog class!), Mrs Smith took it to the vets to be checked over and released somewhere safe. The children were very quiet when meeting it, and intrigued as it was the first time a lot of them had seen a hedgehog in real life. We named it Holly in honour of our school.

World Book Day

On Thursday, all children were invited to dress as their favourite book characters for World Book Day - all staff joined in too - and it was fantastic to see all the different costumes and hearing the children talk about their favourite character.

Please see the gallery on our pages for some of our children dressed up!

Sports for champions

On Monday the 11th of February we had a very exciting visit from a professional athlete called Robert Mitchell.

Each class took part in a ‘keep fit circuit’ led by Robert himself and it was lots of fun! They completed activities such as spotty dogs, star jumps, press ups, mountain climbers and the plank which showed the children different ways they could keep fit and healthy.

Robert then led an assembly to the children talking about how to stay fit and healthy and what it takes to become a professional athlete.

Robert Mitchell Visit

Spring term 2019

We have got an exciting event coming up in school! The athlete, Robert Mitchell, who won a gold medal in high jump at the Commonwealth Games and is the Welsh record holder for this sport too, is going to be coming into school to support the children in completing different sporting activities and will also be delivering an assembly talking about the learning attitudes he needed to reach the top level of his sport!

We are all very excited to be welcoming this event into our school and all look forward to taking part!
