Midday meals are prepared in our kitchen. They are cooked and served by Chartwells in our recently refurbished kitchen. They are of good quality and meet the expected nutritional standards. A menu is distributed in advance with children generally being offered a choice of two main hot courses with vegetables along with a dessert. There is a vegetarian and a fish / meat option available each day as well as jacket potatoes from the Buffet Bar. In addition, there is a choice of a ham or cheese sandwich or a daily special, such as a wrap. The emphasis is on healthy eating.
Chartwells are able to cater for allergies to specific foods. Consultations can be arranged via the office.
The Governments Universal Free School Meal initiative was launched in September 2014, meaning every infant school child is entitled to a free hot meal everyday.
We pride ourselves on being a Healthy School, and are proud to have received an Award for this, so if you choose to send a packed lunch please make sure that no glass bottles, hot drinks/soups are sent to school. Chocolate biscuits are acceptable but no sweets or chocolate bars in lunchboxes. A drink is required for which fruit juices or water in plastic containers or cartons are permitted, but please NO cans or fizzy drinks. This is in addition to their water bottle which is kept in the classroom. As we have children with severe nut allergies please do not send in food containing nuts; this includes peanut butter and Nutella.
